Shopping Addiction

I'm figuring that since this blog is anonymous, I can loosen up a little more.

Watching season 3 of Keeping up with the Kardashians, there was an episode where Kris, Kourtney and Khloe intervened on Kim's shopping addiction.

Do I have a problem? It's like Kim said, it's not like she's going broke. Same here! But I realize that I am always shopping, even if it's just in my head. Always, I'm making lists of what to buy next.

What the...ugh. I hate to think about that. I don't wanna have a shopping problem!! I asked someone close to me in my life (we'll call him Sir) why I like shopping so much. He said that it provides a euphoric feeling just like any drug.

Good thing my card doesn't have a limit, or else I could max it out in a second.

Drugstore Makeup

I realize that I really don't give it a chance. If it's not in Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus (for the most part) I breeze on by. Buuut I keep hearing people sing the praises of E.L.F., Revlon, L'Oreal...Ok, maybe not, but I keep seeing the stuff in some of my favorite fashion magazines so, what the hell. Why not.

Alright, first up: E.L.F. I heard about this brand a million years ago, back when I was poor, honestly. So I already feel like I know their products are gonna be crap. Except for the $1 eyeshadow quads, I remember actually loving those!

OMG I realized that I might still have it and wow I found a few things that I've kept squirreled away over the years.
This has taught me that I really need to learn to throw shit away. I sure used the heck outta that eyeshadow, though! lmao

IF I decide to give this a chance, here's my cart:

Gotta love free shipping.

Celebrity Fragrance Collection

Available at Macy's.
Mariah Carey's Lollipop Bling in "Honey", "Ribbon" and "Mine Again"

I wasn't too fond of Mariah's last batch, but I enjoy all three of these equally. I just smelled Mine Again again and realized that it reminds me of Escada Magnetism. In fact, they all remind me of other perfumes, but that's ok, because hers are less expensive than the ones they remind me of- HA!

One thing about them I don't like: her print ad! She looks so juvenile, it's idiotic. Is Nick rubbing off on her that badly? Nah, I don't know anything about her, but the ad is just too much and not my style.

Uhmm...Crazy.

My blog, my opinion. Enough said.

So, I'm reading this article in Marie Claire (August 2010) called "An American Tragedy" by Abigail Pesta. Basically, there's a 20 year old woman named Noor Almaleki who was living in Phoenix, AZ, USA. I repeat, USA.

Her father ran her over with his truck. Excuse me? Ran her over with his truck. Because she was bringing dishonor to the family. Omg, I don't even know where to begin.

She was going to school, taking care of her siblings, apparently she wasn't doing anything wrong. But because she was becoming "too Americanized". Her father tricked her into going to Iraq to marry her off, according to the article. For some reason, they ended up back home, maybe she was married, maybe not.

Well, he found a picture on her myspace page of her with a couple of guys and that's when the trouble really started. She tried to move out of the house and get her own place and get a job, but her mom and dad kept showing up and harassing her at work.

Can anyone say stalking?

Well she moved back in until she got a beating one night and then she finally left for good to move in with a nearby Iraqi family, which was the biggest mistake ever according to her dad.

He freakin ran her over!! And she didn't die, she was comatose, but after being declared brain dead, who do you think opted to pull the plug? The family, of course. And they helped him. Gave him money to run off to Mexico after the police got involved, they keep denying everything...a phone conversation was even recorded between Noor's mom and dad (while he was in jail) and they were talking about how to get him off the hook with tribal laws and insanity pleas.

Sick. Sick, sick, sick. He just committed MURDER. First degree, cold blooded, premeditated murder of his own daughter. And I say, for no good reason. If she's gonna dishonor your family, disown her. People do that shit everyday.

There are no universal truths because every culture is different. There's only what each individual or group believes to be true. But this man and his family are living in the USA...that's some bullshit. It is not ok to murder in the USA.

She was so beautiful, too. Here's a link to the article online.

Groovy, Baby.

The top image under each item is the actual shade, while the bottom image is just a pic of the item.

~MAC "Comfort" Mineralize Skinfinish~

~MAC "Call My Bluff" Cremesheen Lipstick~

~MAC "Right Image" Cremesheen Glass~

This is all I want from the "In the Groove" collection. I respect MUAs and MAC for what they do, but I'm not a wannabe. Trends do not dictate what I spend my (hard-earned?) money on! While I do enjoy looking hott, and everyone around me seems to enjoy it, too, I definitely don't need helping doing it.

Maybe I just enjoy the act of shopping for things and collecting them. Quality over quantity, though. Clutter is something that irritates the hell outta me so no junk need apply.

City of Lights?

*~*Las Vegas, Nevada, USA*~*

Whether that's it's official AKA or not, I don't care. I have loved lights for a long time. An old friend of mine used to give them to me as gifts. String lights, glowing lamps, etc.

Seems like the city of hope, too. So many people go there and they just wanna get lucky : )

Sin City Las Vegas looks like fun to me. Maybe I'll even get my weight up in gambling, flex those bluff muscles. Time to play poker!

I Love Africa

*~*Cairo, Egypt*~*

I miss it soo much. Not really because I haven't been there in so long and I don't remember it buuut Cairo, Egypt is on my list for when I go back. I can only imagine how amazing it will be to tour that city at night.

Or in the day, to see the Great Pyramids of Giza and the street shops. It would inspire my pottery and fashion styling a lot. Hmm maybe that's the only excuse I need to get my booty over there?
